We currently have an opportunity for a Regular Part Time Physiotherapist in the Critical Care Unit located at the Bayview Campus.

Summary of Duties

The Physiotherapist (in collaboration with the interprofessional team) is responsible for providing person centred patient assessments and interventions for patients with various conditions and complex needs while in the Critical Care Unit as part of the Trauma program.

Works with the physiotherapists and other members of the patient care team to foster, enhance and support best practice.

Participates in quality improvement initiatives, evaluative processes that include the use of standardized and valid outcome measures, report writing, and research activities.

Participates in continuing professional development activities including the provision of clinical and educational in-services that fosters ongoing learning, professionalism, interprofessional collaborations, and best practices in physiotherapy for ICU patients.

Participation of supervision of physical therapy students on an ongoing basis. Is a resource; for the education of interprofessional students as required.

Is an expert resource for; staff, students, and other health care providers related to physiotherapy. Participates on appropriate committees pertaining to the operation of the Critical Care Unit.

Participates in discipline-specific activities within Physiotherapy Services. Practices in accordance with the College of Physiotherapy of Ontario standards of practice.

  • MScPT or equivalent
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Rostered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario for Tracheal Suctioning and Administering a Substance by Inhalation
  • Previous experience in the care of critical care patients an asset
  • Expertise in interprofessional collaborative practice
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated effective written, oral and nonverbal communication skills
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job
  • Canadian Physiotherapy Association membership preferred
  • Computer literacy preferred
