Your Opportunity :

The Laboratory Technologist I will perform a variety of manual and automated special chemistry procedures with attention to detail, accuracy and precision ensuring quality results.

Specialized techniques include manual radioimmunoassay and ELISA methods, gas chromatography, FTIR, LC / MS / MS, and wet chemistry methods.

Candidate may also be required to do patient collection e.g. sweat chloride. Recent experience and knowledge of these technologies an asset.

Flexibility in working hours required. In addition, they will maintain laboratory records, perform routine equipment maintenance, perform troubleshooting on various laboratory instruments, verify patient / quality control results, participate in quality control activities and assist with training new employees and students.

Description :

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department.

You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

  • Required Qualifications :

    Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

    Additional Required Qualifications :

    Recent demonstrated skill in manual technique required. Attention to detail, proficiency, aptitude and precision in manual techniques is required.

    The ability to recognize testing / procedural anomalies and act appropriately to resolve these is required. Must have the ability to operate Windows based computer applications.

    The successful candidate will be able to work independently and within a team environment. Effective time management, strong organizational skills, and excellent communication / interpersonal skills are required.

    The successful candidate will represent Laboratory Medicine and Pathology in a respectful, professional and courteous manner.

    Preferred Qualifications :

    Knowledge of basic endocrinology an asset.Previous experience in manual chemistry methods is preferred.
