Position Summary

We are hiring a permanent full time Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) Alcohol and Drug Clinician to join our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team in Kamloops.

The ACT Team is a progressive and dynamic team that works together as one singular group to case manage clients in the community.

The bulk of the work is outreach but in a very team-based approach. Our clients are primarily mentally ill with the primary diagnosis of persistent mental illness and 80% of work is done out in the community.

We are a fairly new team who work together using problem solving and critical thinking to find the best solutions for our clients.

The A&D Clinician provides, at the advanced practice level, assessment, treatment, service coordination and, as required, urgent response to the most complex clients, frequently with co-

occurring disorders, who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life.

The A&D Clinician functions as a primary clinician utilizing a variety of specialized treatment modalities / therapies for individuals, groups of clients and / or their families.

This position will be working within a day treatment environment within the substance use team as well as providing some individual counselling where necessary.

Shifts of work are Monday to Friday 08 : 30 to 16 : 30 with weekends and statutory holidays off. The rotation includes on-call shifts.

Qualifications

Masters degree from an accredited educational institution in an Allied Health, Behavioural, or Social Science field relevant to the position.

Two years’ recent related experience in an alcohol and drug treatment environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current valid B.C. driver’s license.
