The City of Salmon Arm is nestled on the shores of Shuswap Lake, centrally located half way between Vancouver and Calgary.
With a population of approximately 17,500, it is the largest community on Shuswap Lake and serves as the business centre for the area.

We are seeking a high energy individual to become a key member of our management team that is focused on providing quality local government services in an efficient and effective manner.
Reporting to the Manager of Roads and Parks, the Supervisor of Roads and Transportation is responsible for directing and supervising our public works staff.
This includes all aspects of the maintenance and operation of roads and transportation facilities (snow and ice control, streets, lighting, sidewalks, curbs, gutters and ditches) as well as the gravel pit and common services programs.
Candidates for this position must be self-motivated with a minimum of five years public works experience. Proven ability to manage employees along with experience dealing with private contractors is essential.
Experience with maintenance / installation of streets, lights, sidewalks, curbs, and gravel pit operations, and managing operating and capital budgets is also required.
The successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communications skills and the ability to exercise diplomacy, courtesy and tact when dealing with employees, contractors and members of the general public.
Coursework in supervision, finance / budgeting and human resource management is beneficial. A thorough knowledge and understanding of WorkSafe BC Regulations is required.
Applicants must be proficient in a variety of software programs, including Microsoft Office, GIS, ArcMap, etc. The preferred candidate will have post-
secondary education in civil engineering or related field, as well as coursework in asphalt, concrete, construction, etc.
Previous experience in a unionized public sector organization as well as experience working in a municipal setting is an asset.
