Key Accountabilities...

  • Train movements of passenger rail equipment in the CN Jasper Yard and adjoining mainlines
  • Frequently climbing rail equipment or vestibule steps to board standing or moving coaches, operating handbrakes, coupling air hoses between coaches, disconnecting / connecting HEP cables and water lines between coaches, operating track switches / derails
  • Comply with all CROR, GOI and applicable safety and opening rules
  • Position Requirements...

  • Previously qualified as a Conductor and Locomotive Engineer
  • Previously qualified under CROR Operating Rules
  • Experience in operating locomotives, switching passenger and / or freight equipment
  • Experience with building and interpreting switch lists
  • Background in mechanical equipment maintenance is an asset including electrical, carpentry, HVAC, plumbing and other related trades
  • Strong leadership and communication skills in directing team members on site to complete job tasks safely according to standard operating plan including contractors
  • Background in rail car maintenance is an asset
  • Lead security protocols for equipment on site
  • Uphold RM Brand standards for equipment, facilities and reputation
  • Competent in MS Office suite and ability to learn / comprehend other related systems
  • Strong organizational skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license
  • Understand and comply with all safety standards and procedures related to the specific job
  • Working Conditions...

  • Shift work, which consists of : Irregular hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime
  • Work in a railroad operating environment outside in all weather conditions
  • Frequent stooping, lifting, kneeling, bending, crouching and climbing.
  • Minimal travel may be required
  • Self-motivated individual required to work / lead a team environment, always striving for excellence
