Summary of Duties

We currently have a Permanent full-time vacancy for the Pharmacist Manager at the Holland Centre Pharmacy.

The primary responsibilities of the Pharmacist Manager are split between administration and clinical pharmacy activity. Therefore, the successful candidate should have the ability to lead projects and people and to consistently deliver results.

The successful candidate will be expected to prepare and manage a departmental budget, manage human resources for the pharmacy department at the site and provide clinical support services, as well as attend various internal and external committees.

In addition to having proven managerial skills, the successful candidate must have the skills and ability to introduce and maintain best practice models for the site.

For example, in pharmaceutical care : Medication reconciliation and patient education in compliance with regulations enforced by the Ontario College of Pharmacy and standards of Accreditation Canada.

  • Clinical Pharmacy responsibilities include physician order review; clarification and entry; supervision of drug dispensing by pharmacy technicians;
  • answering of drug related questions; provision of pharmaceutical care; medication reconciliation; participation in multidisciplinary rounds;
  • patient counseling; participation in the education of students and multidisciplinary staff; safety report initiation and follow-

    up; other pharmacy duties including participating in on-call activities and hospital and departmental committees.

    Qualifications / Skills

  • Current licensure by the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a Hospital setting in a relevant practice area
  • Experience managing staff. The candidate should have the ability to lead projects and people and to consistently deliver results
  • Advanced problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to build strong teams
  • Able to work well in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful work environment
  • Self-motivated and able to take initiative
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Well organized with strong time management and customer service skills
