PopCap Vancouver is building a data-driven live service platform. It will be shared by at least two upcoming console titles to service their unique needs.

The platform software developer (SE) will work with a team of engineers to plan, design, build, integrate, and maintain the platform.

The platform SE will gather requirements from key contacts on each title's development team. The successful candidate will participate in every step of the process, from technical design, development and load testing all the way up to live production services.


  • Work with game teams to design features and systems to support the games
  • Develop, launch and maintain high-traffic services for multi-platform console game titles
  • Architect and build secure systems for high performance and high scalability
  • Perform service load testing to identify and resolve bottlenecks and slow queries
  • Work closely with the engineering and DevOps teams on best practices
  • Research and integrate new technologies
  • Be accountable for the overall health, quality, maintainability and style of the platform codebase
  • Perform under minimal supervision on complex assignments
  • Qualifications

  • 3+ years of software development work experience
  • BS in Computer Science or other relevant experience
  • Strong logical reasoning skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Experience with source code management (Perforce, Git)
  • Significant C++ development experience
  • Intermediate C# development experience
  • Some exposure to unit testing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion to investigate and adopt new technologies and practices
  • Bonus Skills

  • Experience shipping console game titles, in particular integrating online services
  • Experience working with game engines such as Unity3D, Unreal, etc., in particular their source data pipelines
  • Experience with test-driven development
  • Experience with SQL queries in general, and MySQL syntax in particular
  • Experience using Redis, particularly from C++
  • Experience scripting solid build processes and workflows
  • Exposure to Linux
  • Exposure to microservices
