Job Introduction

The Industrial Electrician performs a variety of complex tasks, such as electrical troubleshooting, programming and electrical installations.

Major Responsibilities

  • Plan layout, install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and controls equipment.
  • Repair faulty equipment or systems.
  • Coordinate with engineering and manufacturing to professionally install new equipment.
  • Attain safety, quality and productivity goals
  • Install and maintain equipment to satisfy all corporate and technical standards
  • Assist in the training of electrical apprentices
  • Report daily activities to supervision to assure accurate asset maintenance records
  • Report all critical and non-critical problems to Shift Supervisor, Maintenance Manager and relevant Team Members
  • Attend training as required and keep accurate records
  • Complete correspondence, documentation and reports as required
  • Utilize the Magna Employee’s Charter programs (Open Door Process, Employee Advocate, Fairness Committee, Employee Assistance Programs, and Hotline)
  • Follow and abide by all government legislation and guidelines; Magna Employee’s Charter; Corporate Constitution; Grenville Castings rules / regulations / procedures & policies.
  • Adhere to customer requirements

  • Maintain excellent housekeeping and follow the 5S principles. Practice our safety first policy by addressing : hazards, defective equipment, wearing personal protective equipment as required, and by reporting unsafe conditions immediately
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as requested by Team leader, Supervisor or Management
  • Knowledge and Education

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Completion of relevant post-secondary education and apprenticeship
  • Valid Certification of Qualifications
  • Work Experience

  • 5 years of experience working with industrial equipment
  • PLC programming experience (Allen Bradley / Siemens)
  • Robotics experience (ABB / Fanuc)
  • Millwright and / or Mechatronics experience an asset
  • Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision when required and also as part of a team
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of how job performance affects product quality and customer satisfaction
  • Ability to work with others; build and maintain positive employee relations
  • Ability to interpret written reports, correspondence, instructions, procedures and guidelines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to manage and schedule multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work flexible hours to be available for shift work and weekends
  • Work Environment

  • The work environment is primarily plant floor and is characterized by temperature extremes, loud noise and tow motor traffic
