Your insightful portfolio analytics and recommendations and knowledge of our processes and areas for opportunity will influence strategic decisions made by leaders.

You’ll also team up with friendly, supportive internal partners, including P&C leadership and business partner members and our key business stakeholders, and external stakeholders, such as government agencies, to shape the future of work.

Here's how

  • Execution and / or support of our biweekly, monthly and quarterly payroll accounting functions : Ensure all inputs and outputs of your payroll financials are compliant with TELUS, legislated or negotiated requirements Meet both internal and external auditor’s Sarbanes-
  • Oxley control requirements Provide feedback, coaching and information sessions as required to ensure compliance with federal and provincial legislation and company policies Accountable for the accuracy, limit in use and protection of team member data within your role Leverage and enhance our use of the SAP payroll and financial systems to support your deliverables Put your payroll accounting skills to use in supporting the financial part of our payroll business, leading your own payroll finance team of 7 Accountable for all journal entries, general ledger (GL) accounts and third party payments for the portfolio

  • Operate as a Trusted Advisor & Ambassador : Provide guidance to the P&C Operations team members related to facilitation of escalated issues through problem recognition, research, and analysis Key player for the payroll accounting function, issue resolution oversight and other related communication Collaborate with business partners to support various programs to our team members, including recommendations to gain direction, alignment, and final approval of your leader Build strong relationships across Canada within the P&C community and represent P&C -
  • Operations at various meetings, acting as a technical payroll accounting resource

  • Provide critical business insights and thought leadership : Maintain our compliance adherence brand both internally with audit and externally with government and audit agencies to prevent penalties for non-
  • compliance Implement payroll accounting best practices for TELUS’ pay policies to improve processes, deselect non-value-add work to ultimately increase efficiency and time to focus on our customer Support the preparation of monthly activity reports that support our P&C - Operations dashboard

    Qualifications

    You're the missing piece of the puzzle

  • Valued for your 5 to 7 years of payroll accounting & compliance, continuous education and experience, in both federal & provincial environments, preferably within large corporate organizations
  • Noted as a solid communicator and excellent collaborator who can influence and build strong business partner relationships
  • Recognized for managing numerous competing priorities and commitments with extremely high attention to detail in an organized manner
  • Proven track record in driving change through fair process
  • Experience working with Canada Revenue Agency & Revenu Québec
  • Knowledge & experience of payroll financial accounting principles
  • Track record of executing and delivering on agreed upon objectives
  • Pro at using the different functions of Microsoft (MS) Excel & SAP Human Resources (HR) & Finance modules
  • University degree or college diploma, with a slant towards Human Resources, Payroll Accounting, including Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and / or Payroll designations
  • Great-to-haves

  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation
  • Bilingual in English & French, both written & oral
