Position Summary

  • Construction Managers plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the activities of a construction company or a construction department within a company, under the direction of the Black &
  • McDonald Site Manager or other B&M senior manager.

    Duties & Responsibilities

  • Located on the designated Bruce Power Site and is such a key player on the SCT (Senior Construction Team)
  • Reports to the Site Manager
  • Manages and supervises the day-to-day activities for all 'Contractors' direct hire BTU and CUSW trades persons.
  • Plans the work and ensures all necessary resources and materials are in-place to achieve the schedule requirements; Constantly looking ahead to ensure the work is planned and integrated with many competing activities of a large operating Nuclear Generating Station;
  • Gives direction to all Superintendents' General Foreman; Works closely with the other SCT members to achieve objectives and results.
  • Responsible to ensure tradespersons have the training and qualifications to complete the work safely, according to procedures, meet quality requirements and workmanship standards.
  • Responsible for good working practices including procedural adherence, completion of field required documentation, trade professionalism, enforcing performance management per both B&
  • M and Bruce Power contract policies, job site housekeeping and enforcing communications through the chain of command.

  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate construction activities from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget
  • Assists in Preparation and Review of construction estimates
  • Assisting in the planning and review of construction schedules & milestones and monitor progress against established schedules / budgets.
  • Represents B&M on matters such as business services and union contracts negotiation or disputes
  • Ensure field updates are made available to progress reports
  • Provide oversight on the activities of subcontractors and subordinate staff

    Education & Skill Requirements

  • A university degree in civil engineering or a college diploma in construction technology or a trade certificate and a minimum of 5 years site leadership experience.
  • Several years of experience in the construction industry, including experience as a construction supervisor or field superintendent.
  • Extensive experience in the construction industry may substitute for post-secondary education requirements.
