Compensation : Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.

Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $20.41 per hour.

Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $32.13 per hour.

In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant?s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.

Duties : There are 60 nominal hours associated with this appointment. Duties include but are not limited to :

  • Collecting grade records (including weekly seminar grades) from Teaching Assistants in a timely manner
  • Ensuring that grade records are maintained in accordance with protocols established by the instructors
  • Maintaining grade records in a format that is electronically accessible to instructors
  • Reviewing grade records with instructors to ensure consistency in grading
  • Following up with Teaching Assistants regarding students who have not completed course components or are otherwise at risk of failing the course
  • Coordinating redistribution of assignments and exams among Teaching Assistants when necessary
  • Prioritizing work, meeting stipulated deadlines, responding in a timely manner to instructor requests, and meeting with instructors as scheduled Qualifications : 1.
  • A four-year Honours B.A., or equivalent, in History with a minimum 75% average in History courses

    2. Demonstrated knowledge of 20th Century U.S. History is required.

    3. Evidence of successful previous university-level teaching assistant experience or equivalent
