    About the role

    We are looking for a regional Category Manager MRO & Goods for our North American procurement organization based in Montreal.

    This role is a great opportunity for an experienced Procurement Professional to manage a portfolio of regional categories.

    This will include recruitment, capability development through training and assignments and mentoring.Reporting to the Senior Manager Regional Sourcing & PMO, you will be :

    Managing a team of Sourcing Specialists and Analysts who will in turn manage a portfolio of categories or they will support the Senior Category Manager to manage a major category.

    Overseeing the deep understanding of their assigned categories by ensuring Fact Based Development and Category Strategies are developed, signed off by BU and appropriate Rio Tinto Procurement representatives, including regular reviews, updates and adjustments.

    Developing and executing procurement plans within those category plans or as required on an ad hoc basis.This will include leading key or complex sourcing projects.

    Managing contracts and supporting the BU end user service delivery team to managers in their contract management accountabilities as defined by the Segmentation model.

    Carrying out both internal and external negotiations at a high level to secure best position for Rio Tinto.

    Ensuring all projects are delivered in Ariba and meet all the governance requirements outlined in Rio Tinto Procurement and Group Policies, Standards and Guidelines.

    They are also responsible to ensure they review and signoff all projects completed by their direct reports to ensure they meet all Rio Tinto governance requirements.

    Making sure that all projects must effectively support the delivery of Safety, Partnerships, Productivity and Cash.

    Demonstrating outstanding Negotiation skills and be able to lead negotiations and build out complex negotiation plans for approval.

    Being open and transparent in their relationships and able to develop a high level of trust and work in a matrix environment

    About you

    To be successfully considered for this role, you will have :

  • Bachelor Degree in Business or Engineering;
  • Minimum of 10 years of procurement & supply chain experience;
  • Previous experience with multi-national companies preferably in manufacturing and FMCG industries

    Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategy

    Knowledge of the regional and worldwide MRO & indirect Goods markets

    Commercial acumen commensurate with role requirements

    Strong problem solving, strategic and analytical capability

    Strong people management skills

    Effective and authoritative communication and coaching skills

    Effective time management and personal organizational skills

    Demonstrate an open minded genuine curiosity towards understanding the needs of business and the impact of applied solutions

    Able to work alone and to take feedbackEnglish proficiency, French would be an asset
