ERM is seeking a hands-on Environmental Consultant in Sudbury, ON to support our growing domestic market in Canada, specifically in Northern Ontario.
In this role, you will focus on leading the design and implementation of field studies, supporting environmental assessment and permitting processes, and developing closure plans for mining projects.
This position will include the opportunity to work directly as a member of our Client teams studying potential capital investment and divestment options.

Coordinate project activities for various projects and studies, including federal and provincial environmental assessments (EAs), regulatory permitting, compliance programs and related activities
Perform project delivery activities such as report writing, undertaking and organizing data collection and survey field work, data and literature review, and development of recommendations for clients
Assist in preparation of EAs / EISsand associated management plans and closure plans in compliance with federal and provincial requirements
Plan and steward the implementation of environmental baseline field studies for a broad variety of disciplines
Mentor more junior consulting staff with introductory levels of experience in environmental projects
Provide technical assistance on EAs, EHS compliance, environmental management system, and due diligence transaction projects
Provide on-site major capital project study support at client facilities
Provide on-site EHS compliance support at client facilities
Perform environmental compliance audits and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, provincial and local regulations
Implement environmental management systems and programs for corporate clients
Develop plans, permits, and procedures for air quality, hazardous waste, spill prevention, storm water, and wastewater
Work within quality / budget / schedule expectations and scope specific assignments
Assist with technical proposals and support business development with existing clients and identified leads
Maintain client relationships that generate repeat business
Communicate with clients, ERM employees, subcontractors, and vendors REQUIREMENTS :
Bachelor degree in engineering, environmental science, planning or related discipline or a technical diploma with substantial work experience
5 to 7 years of environmental function experience in areas including field studies, environmental assessment, regulatory permitting, compliance management; and management systems
High degree of technical competence and broad knowledge of impact assessment best practices, with a solid grasp of the key impact assessment and management issues within the mining sector.
Strong understanding of the federal and provincial (Ontario) legislation and policy frameworks relevant to this role
Existing and positive relationships with the environmental community, including industry, government, and other consultants.
Experience in leading and / or supporting community engagement activities.
Ability to build, coach, and mentor collaborative teams
Strong MS Office computer skills; advanced understanding of PowerPoint, Excel, and Project desired.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience writing comprehensive technical reports and standards
Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed.
