The Bird Monitor position is responsible for the delivery of quality Bird and Wildlife Management services.
A day in the life of an SGS Canada Bird Monitor :
Perform bird and wildlife surveys (including nesting surveys and bird counts).
Bird hazing activities, auditing of bird deterrent systems, data entry and report writing.
In addition, the individual may be asked to assist with operational tailings activities including pond sampling and sounding, insitu testing, instrumentation installations, mudline and pond elevation surveys, etc.
Drive a truck on rough roads frequently.
Ensure daily completion and submission of all reports and other necessary documentation, including timesheets and vehicle logs.
We are looking for someone with the following Skills, Experiences and Qualifications :
Must be legally eligible to work for an employer in Canada without sponsorship.
Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Environmental or other related science field.
Experience with Avian Wildlife identification (specifically wetland, marsh, or water associated avian species).
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must have a valid Oil Sands Safety Association Basic Safety Orientation (OSSA BSO) ticket.
Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.
Ability to work long hours in adverse weather conditions
