Provides semi-skilled and general maintenance, repair, building, and installation services for the Parks Canada Agency.

  • Intent of the process

    The results of this process will be used to fill temporary vacancies and may be used in the future to fill permanent or temporary vacancies that may arise at the GL MAN 05 (Maintenance Worker III) group and level, in the Lake Louise, Yoho & Kootenay Field Unit, in various locations, with full or part-

    time hours for various tenures, such as : Seasonal Indeterminate, Term, Acting Assignment or Assignment at level, depending on status of the selected candidate.

    In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

    Successful completion of secondary school according to provincial standards.

    Please note : Successful candidates may be required to obtain and maintain a Small Water Systems Certification within an agreed upon timeframe.

    Experience

  • Experience in one or more of the technical functions which may include : plumbing, commercial building repair / maintenance, equipment repair / maintenance;
  • Experience in the use, operation and maintenance of a range of manual and power tools and equipment.

    Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of commercial buildings and equipment;
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety practices;
  • Knowledge of common code compliance and preventative maintenance practices.

  • Ability to keep and maintain accurate log and records (e.g. purchase order logs or records of service acquisitions);
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize various responsibilities and tasks;
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

    Additional Experience

  • Experience in monitoring and sampling of potable water;
  • Experience in carpentry work.
  • Conditions of Employment

  • Obtain and maintain Reliability Status;
  • Maintenance of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License (Class L, N or other graduated license will not be accepted).
  • Operational Requirements

  • Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and personal protective equipment and follow safety procedures;
  • Willingness to travel and work in various terrain and weather conditions;
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, shift work, weekends and / or statutory holidays and provincial / territorial holidays if required;
  • Willingness to perform work throughout the entire geographic area of Lake Louise, Yoho & Kootenay Field Unit.
