Our office in Waterloo Ontario is looking for a Hydraulic Modeller to join the Integrated Water Resources Management Group.

This opportunity will provide the successful candidate the ability to manage their own projects, develop their own clients and provide leadership in the growth of the team while assisting in the development of the business into other associated areas of work.

Candidates will be considered with a range of experience.

The successful candidate will be responsible for :

  • Conducting flood risk and inundation studies, floodplain mapping, PMF / PMP studies, dam breach and consequence assessments, design of hydraulic structures, and climate change impacts and adaptation studies.
  • Performing two- and three-dimensional hydrodynamic, water quality, and sediment transport modeling.
  • Assisting with water resources projects for a variety of clients.
  • Assisting staff with coordination and execution of site assessments and field investigations.
  • Working in a team environment with other water resources staff, field staff, and GIS / CAD staff to execute simple to complex projects.
  • Assisting with preparation of project reports, liaison with clients, and other approval agencies.
  • Assisting in the preparation of proposals and business development.
  • Skills, Competencies and Qualifications :

  • Strong hydraulic analysis capabilities; experience with 2D hydraulic floodplain modelling
  • In depth experience and expertise with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, PCSWMM, SMS, TUFLOW, Mike, TELEMAC, EFDC, Delft, etc.
  • and ability to learn new modelling software as required

  • Good knowledge of ArcGIS.
  • Strong computer skills, experience with computer programming and automation would be an asset
  • Detail-oriented personality with strong design and analytical skills
  • Strong oral communication skills and excellent technical writing capabilities for reports and proposals.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently under time constraints; proven ability to organize and plan tasks effectively and solve problems
  • Post-secondary water resources engineering education.
  • Eligible for Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license in Ontario and willing to travel within Ontario, Canada, and US as required.
