Dynacare is currently looking for a Scientific Manager, Anatomical Pathology to join our team in Brampton, Ontario. This is a Full-
Time role working 37.5 hours weekly.
The Scientific Manager, Anatomical Pathology is accountable to the Vice President, Clinical, Development and Quality Assurance &Chief Scientific Officer for leveraging technical / scientific expertise in the discipline of Anatomical Pathology thereby allowing dedicated and national focus on science and technology issues, common standards and discipline-
specific planning. Accountable for the excellence of Anatomical Pathology by developing, managing and continuously improving Anatomical Pathology to support the achievement of Immediate Manager’s vision, mission, strategic and operational objectives in accordance with the organization’s values.
The Scientific Manager will draw upon expertise in diagnostic testing, experience, proven technical skills and insights on work-
flow design to fulfill the following accountabilities :
Provide input to immediate manager’s strategic and operational plans and directions and ensure on-going effective positioning and integration of Anatomical Pathology throughout the organization in order to create and sustain organization success
Assess competition and market opportunities and threats; recommend appropriate plans; and implement decided actions (when relevant)
Ensure the delivery of optimal Anatomical Pathology results against appropriate performance metrics (systems, processes, procedures and activities)
Establish, monitor, measure and report Anatomical Pathology performance metrics; analyze and identify issues impacting operational performance and establish initiatives for continuous improvement to ensure all Compliance, Regulatory, and Quality standards are upheld for Anatomical Pathology;
as well as continuous examination for Anatomical Pathology Scientific differentiation for Dynacare
Provide leadership with respect to the innovative use of advanced science and technology, the provision of expert knowledge and meaningful information to our customers and the overall enhancement of Dynacare scientific vision and reputation as it pertains to Anatomical Pathology
Determine common standards, policies, and procedures in Anatomical Pathology that align with applicable external regulatory requirements, customer expectations and corporate directions
Serve as a resource to Anatomical Pathology staff in interpretation of challenging results and trends, communicate with associated physicians’, and respond to calls / call back and query
Ensure the practice of good Laboratory Medicine throughout Dynacare as it pertains to Anatomical Pathology by providing the necessary oversight, advice and direction as needed
Maintain and enhance the integrity of Anatomical Pathology function with the organization and to promote external visibility through presentations, publications and appropriate representation on external provincial and national committees
Develop and nurture a culture of safety, quality, service, performance, innovation, adaptiveness in all tasks
Develop, implement and review control mechanisms and processes to ensure compliance to policies, standards, regulatory requirements and Dynacare requirements and ensure mitigation risks
Develop and nurture a culture of safety, quality, service, performance, innovation, adaptiveness in all tasks performed and fair treatment across Anatomical Pathology
Develop and maintain (geographical / functional) networks and apply knowledge to plans and actions (when relevant)
Establish and enhance Dynacare as a leader in Anatomical Pathology industry and community
Provide In-depth technical expertise to Dynacare Anatomic Pathology Program
Monitor, measure and report performance metrics; analyze and identify issues impacting operational performance and establish initiatives for continuous improvement
Project leadership for implementing major departmental initiatives as required
Evaluation of new methods / instrumentation / work-flows as outlined by the Scientific and Operational Director
Provide advice, trouble-shooting and technical support to various Dynacare laboratories
Serve as a resource to Pathology staff in interpretation and management of challenging specimens and trends, communicate with associated physicians and pathologists, and respond to calls and queries
Engage in knowledge exchange / transfer by teaching and training staff, as needed. Participate in the development of method validation as outlined by the Director and, prepares and submits the necessary documentation to fulfill Quality Assurance and Accreditation compliance
Responsible for establishing a standardized Pathology Quality Assurance program across organization
Accountable for discussing process deviations with managers and advising follow-up corrective actions
SKILLED KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Certified Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) with good standing with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS)
Technical Skills :
Established Proficiency and Competency in Histology and Cytology
