  • Providing support and producing detailed system requirements and technical / functional specifications in alignment with standards and frameworks;
  • Working in close partnership with business partners, technology, project teams and stakeholders to elicit, analyze, document, communicate and manage detailed functional specifications;
  • Developing effective and efficient solutions by researching, analyzing current state system capabilities and defining technology solutions options and recommendations working closely with key technology partners such as Solution Architects and Quality Assurance staff;
  • Defining, documenting and translating business requirements into detailed functional specifications and non-functional specifications;
  • Supporting testing teams in translating requirements and use cases into test conditions and expected results for product, performance, user acceptance, and operational acceptance testing;
  • Supporting and contributing to project management activities by participating in the scoping and estimating of project efforts, risks identification and mitigation measures recommendation, communicating activity status and providing timely notification and escalation of possible issues and problems to the Project Manager;
  • Participating in quality management reviews, reviews of the designs, prototypes and other requirements work products to ensure they fulfill the requirements;
  • Supporting collaboration with key stakeholders to determine solutions, assessing impact to existing work processes and systems, and managing the integration;
  • Providing operational and process related analysis and support to various extents;
  • Ensuring best practices related to the BSA discipline are adhered to and enforced within project processes and deliverables;
  • Adhering to existing processes and standards including requirements management and project management disciplines, well-

  • defined enterprise technology delivery practices and standards, and business technology architecture, escalating issues as required;
  • Continuously enhancing knowledge and expertise in own area and keeping current with leading-edge technologies trends and developments and develop expertise in company services, applications, infrastructure, analytical tools and techniques that can contribute to effective solution development and delivery;
  • Continuously enhancing knowledge of business domains and their products and services;
  • Supporting the development of business cases including benefits identification, RFI / RFP and service level agreements with vendors and suppliers consistent with technology requirements and guidelines;
  • Maintaining ongoing communication with all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle;
  • Ability to perform BSA tasks effectively while assigned to a single project or multiple concurrent projects;
  • Prioritizing and managing own workload to deliver quality results and meet timelines;
  • Supporting a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensuring timely communication of issues and points of interest;
  • Participating in knowledge transfer within the team and business units;
  • Coach new or less experienced colleagues and acting as a reference for the requirements management lifecycle;
  • Identifying and recommending opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency of the business unit and team additional information;
  • Working independently as the senior or lead system analyst and coaching or guiding members within area of expertise; and,

    Consulting with clients and project teams and being a subject matter expert.

  • Undergraduate degree;
  • Eight to ten (8-10) years relevant experience

  • Five (5) years’ experience with SAS;
  • Five (5) years’ experience with SQL and Microsoft Office suite;
  • Five (5) years’ experience in Financial industry;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfortability working with both business and technical teams;
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and independently within a fast-paced environment and be a self-starter;
  • Ability to gauge the appropriate level of priority, detail and effort on any given project;
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities;
  • High motivation with a proven track record of delivering results;
  • Effective problem-solving skills with a high degree of attention to detail;
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to follow-up on issues independently and ensure they are resolved promptly and escalating when necessary;
  • Ability to coach;
  • Advanced to expert knowledge of system analysis process and techniques;
  • Advanced to expert knowledge of systems and applications supported by the team including system components, functionality, interfaces, data flows, and business rules;
  • Advanced to expert knowledge of enterprise technology delivery practices and standards and related expertise including design, development, testing and project management;
  • Advanced understanding of business supported;
  • Experience in the Insurance industry (an asset); and,

    SAS certification (an asset).
