Description :

  • Processing payroll for over 300+ hourly employees (union and non-union) and maintaining all payroll filings
  • The incumbent will work as part of the team to process all hourly, salary, and commissioned payroll accurately and on time, in compliance with legislative requirements for a full annual payroll cycle.
  • The incumbent will also be responsible for all aspects of total rewards which includes; health and wellness (benefits, tuition, fitness and companywide communication) compensation planning, survey completion as well as research and analysis.

    The role requires attention to detail and high degree of accuracy, maintaining the highest level of confidential customer service to all associates and managers

  • 40% of the role-Payroll Processing : Auditing HR entries and changes for accuracy. Data entry including : hours, adjustments, manual updates and other details relating to associates compensation.
  • Balancing payroll to time sheets. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. Maintain all payroll filing.

    Respond daily to associates payroll enquiries. Ensures completeness and accuracy of payroll data including employer and employee payroll taxes and other deductions.

    Payroll J / E per pay. The reconciliation of payroll GL accounts are prepared accurately and timely according to standard company format while keeping a log of these items to be reviewed by the Senior Manager of Total Rewards and HRIS.

    Ensure the commencement of all taxable benefits is completed accurately and in a timely manner and that all parties involved are advised of dates and / or other information that may be required.

    Company Car, Life, gifts, awards). Resolve associates concerns and problems regarding payroll questions by researching policies and procedures, and by providing answers and resolutions to any problems or concerns that arise by responding within a timely manner

  • 20% of the role-Reporting & Month / Year-end : Creates reports. Preparing ROE’s and other payroll records as required, in a timely manner.
  • Assists in completion of the year end audit. Respond to external agencies such as : CRA, Service Canada, Family Support, etc.

    Manual Cheque calculations. Month End payroll accrual. Monthly reconciliation and remittances to third parties. Prepares, collects and audits performance bonus for all entitled associates on a quarterly basis.

    Regulatory, monthly, quarterly and annual returns / filings reports (Sales reports, Annual EHT returns, T4 Summary, Summary of source deductions and Releve 1, Calculate Pension Adjustments, WCB, WSIB, CSST, garnishments, Health Tax Levies, and pier audit pre T4 etc.

    must be prepared accurately, timely and approved prior to filing. Other Ad-Hoc reports as needed

  • beneficiaries, dependents, RRSP contributions, etc. Respond to associates benefit inquires. Review and audit monthly statements, tuition and fitness submissions.

    Developing and delivering various communications including ad-hoc, monthly and quarterly. Filing of all benefit forms. Enrolment and administration of corporate gym memberships.

    Participate in current and future benefit design. Respond to external agencies as needed

    Requirements :

  • 1+ year of payroll processing experience is a large asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Experience working with SAP and / or Kronos software is an asset
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Excel (pivot tables, v-look up functions), and Word
  • Completion of a College Diploma in Accounting / Finance / Compensation / Payroll or related field
  • Knowledge of employment standards
  • Fully certified, or currently in the process of completing a PCP designation is a large asset
