The opportunity :
Reporting to the Manager, Commercial Financing, the Underwriter will support Business Account Managers through credit risk analysis on new commercial lending opportunities and assist with ongoing analysis and maintenance of the department’s loan portfolio.
The Underwriter will also work closely with Senior Business Account Managers in mentorship for future growth in a Sales, Risk or other Credit Union positions.
What you’ll do each day :
Analyze borrowers’ creditworthiness through qualitative and quantitative analysis and present credit submissions and recommendations to the credit solutions team.
Perform underwriting and credit risk analysis on all credit submissions in a variety of industries.
Assist the sales team with loan origination and execution. Review of pre-funding conditions and security documents. Support Business Account Officers through the funding process.
Assist with ongoing analysis of the ACU commercial loan portfolio, and support the Business Financial Center’s annual strategic goals.
Your experience and qualifications :
The completion of a post-secondary program, preferably a Bachelor of Commerce or Economics, or equivalent relevant experience.
Ability to interpret financial information in the context of assessing business credit quality (including review of financial statements, bank statements, credit reports and information obtained from other data sources.)
Additional requirements :
Advanced technical skills in Microsoft office.
Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
Ability to work in a busy, fast paced environment and multi-task effectively.
