We are looking for a Payroll & Benefits Coordinator to join our People Success team for a 6 month contract. You will be responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of payroll and benefits services, while also providing administrative support to our People Success team.

Payroll Administration :

  • Manages disbursement of multi-province, and US payroll including garnishments, benefits and taxes to 200+ employees in compliance with all applicable laws
  • Implements appropriate payroll processes and controls (e.g. checks and balances) to ensure completeness and accuracy of all payroll related activities
  • Ensures payroll is administered in accordance with accounting principles, policies and procedures, and legislated requirements
  • Manage relationship with third party payroll service providers
  • Performs manual calculations for cheques, leaves of absence, benefits and adjustments that impact pay
  • Process paperwork for new hires, employee status changes, compensation changes, benefits changes, terminations, and Records of Employment (ROEs)
  • Ensures proper account set-up and distribution of salary, positions and accounts
  • Reviews payroll summaries for accuracy and completeness; initiates corrective action, as required
  • Ensures system accuracy and integrity through data entry, regular audits, problem-solving, and proactive monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Creates user access profiles and provides training to employees on the use of the payroll system
  • Balances, prepares, and distributes T4’s, T4A’s and T2200’s to staff and remits electronic file to Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
  • Conducts year-end audits, reconciliations and preparations related to all payroll accounts
  • Benefits Administration :

  • Lead administration of group benefits program internally, and liaise with benefits providers as needed
  • Enter, update, and maintain online benefits data, and manage STD / LTD claims
  • Handle all inquiries regarding benefits
  • Build employee guides for benefits program
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate entry of HR data into HRIS
  • Assist in the recruitment process as needed
  • Assist with HR analytics
  • Assist with special projects in the People Success team and performs other duties as required
  • HR Support Duties :

  • Requirements

  • College diploma or University degree in Human Resources or Accounting
  • PCP designation is an asset
  • 4+ years of payroll administration experience
  • Canadian and US payroll administration experience
  • Experience working with third party payroll providers, preferably Ceridian
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office particularly Excel
  • In- depth knowledge of employment standards legislation and payroll accounting practices
  • Knowledge of income tax forms, health benefits programs, sick pay, benefit and retirement plans etc.
  • Experience in all year end processing activities (T’4’s, T2200’s, Audits etc.)
  • Prior experience with group benefits administration would be an asset
  • Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner
  • Effective attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy
