  • As an integral member of Nutrition Services Department, the principal responsibilities of the FOOD SERVICES SUPERVISOR include : providing direct & indirect supervision to staff members of Cold Assembly (CA, patient trays), Ware Washing (WW) and / or Nutrition Distribution Center (NDC);
  • performing Food Services Supervisory responsibilities - supervising tray assembly and delivery; ware washing operations, storage / inventory controls, production etc.

  • orders food / non-food supplies and keeps appropriate supplies in respective work areas and to meet services requirements, per established procedures and as directed by Manager;
  • ensures strict compliance with HACCP, WHMIS and OHS guidelines; enters menu / inventory information into CBORD computer program;
  • participates in hiring & evaluates staff performance; provides education / staff in-services sessions and meetings with staff members;
  • schedules staff and does payroll; performs educational responsibilities i.e., mentor Dietetic Interns, food services supervisor students;
  • maintains on going communication with the Manger and other key players to ensure information is disseminated in a timely manner;
  • participates in department quality improvement program; performs cross functional duties as required; performing other duties consistent with the job classification.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of an approved Food and Nutrition Management Program at a Community College or a University Graduate of a Food and Nutrition program
  • Eligible for Membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (C.S.N.M.) required
  • Food Handler Certificate required
  • Eligible for or completion of a Food Handler Certification Program
  • Five (5) years related supervisory experience preferred
  • Therapeutic nutrition knowledge / knowledge of food preparation and allergies
  • Computer literacy using Microsoft Office
  • Excellent decision making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to focus on priorities and activities to meet the day to day requirements
  • Knowledge of CBORD computer program preferred
  • Previous experience in a healthcare and unionized environment required
