Community Psychiatric Nurse Vancouver / Burnaby
The Psychiatric Nurse is directly responsible for supervising, directing and organizing the staff and clients that are assigned to them.
The expected outcomes of this position is to achieve the outmost independent and optimal functioning of the client and to maintain an acceptable level of staff complement and staff competency through daily support, monitoring of staffing needs, supervision and guidance.
The Psychiatric Nurse works closely with the Team Leaders in order to provide the best possible client care and staff support.
Team Leaders and corresponding staff are supervised directly by the PM’s or via the General Manager as required
JOB REQUIREMENTS :
Must be registered and in good standing with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of BC
This position requires the Psychiatric Nurse to be proficient in the use of basic computer competencies such as Word and Outlook.
Additionally, the Psychiatric Nurse must be able to function independently, possess sound written and communication skills, be well organized, be knowledgeable in all Family Services and Housing governing acts such as VPA and RCL, have a valid driver’s license, and be willing to further their skills through additional training.
Registered Nurse with a background in psychiatry or equivalent required to supervise staff and clients in a community residential setting.
Experience in the following areas is a definite asset : Working with individuals from diverse cultures, Addictions, Greif and loss, Suicide prevention and intervention, Strong clinical skills, Prior supervisory experience
Responsible for the care and well being of the client(s)
Implement and follow through with the client’s identified care plan
Work with the Team Leader in achieving the client’s expected outcomes
Attend house or team meetings as required
Attend doctor or psychiatric appointments as required
Assure that proper client documentation in being followed by reviewing client logbooks, flow sheets or any other client centered documents.
This may be in conjunction with supervising Team Leaders on an as needed basis.
Liaison with Community Services Workers, school, employers, or other resources associated with the client
Provide weekly client updates to the General Manager
Ensure the Client Management Log is updated as necessary
Ensure the annual PATH or round table is completed
Ensure Incident Reports are completed in an accurate and timely fashion and that they are forwarded to the necessary parties including the General Manager.
Supervise Team Leaders and staff on a daily / weekly or as needed basis. An instrumental aspect of this position is that staff is following the company’s policy and procedures.
Ensure staff has completed required training and documentation i.e. First Aid, CPR, CRC, Child Abuse Registry Check.
Monitor staffing complements with the Team Leader in order to achieve proper staffing levels.
Advertise for staff as required
Interview potential staff
Provide orientation to new staff as required
Ensure staff receive their performance evaluations in a timely basis
Maintain the Staff Management Log by keeping it up to date.
Review monthly schedules with the Team Leaders and ensure they are correct and handed in on a timely basis.
Other duties as required
