The Division of Dance, School of Creative and Performing Arts invites applications for a Sessional Instructor to teach the following course during the Fall 2018 Session :

  • DNCE 359 Dance Anatomy
  • LEC 01 Tuesday, Thursday 08 : 00-9 : 15,

    Course Description :

    Functional anatomy of the skeletal and muscular systems as they apply to training optimization and injury prevention in dance.

    Course Hours : 3 units; H(3-2)

    Prerequisite(s) : Dance 209 and 235.

    Antirequisite(s) : Credit for Dance 359 and 309.05 will not be allowed.

    Qualifications / Requirements :

    Skills Required

  • Possession of a Master’s or PhD in Dance Science with undergraduate or professional experience in dance performance.
  • Outstanding professional achievement or substantial training in the field specified in the job announcement (Dance Science).
  • Ability to communicate effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities.
  • Demonstrated evidence of successful teaching experience at the university level.
  • Desirable Skills and Abilities

  • Energy, enthusiasm and commitment to excellence in teaching
  • Willingness to work with students having a wide range of skills, varying abilities, motivations, and academic or vocational goals
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with others in a team environment
  • Ability to use instructional strategies designed for diverse learning styles and academic goals
  • Demonstrable knowledge of current literature on dance aesthetics, criticism and analysis
