The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Preventive Medicine in partnership with Alberta Health Services, invites applications for an Occupational Physician to be based in the Division of Preventive Medicine.
Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-
education institutions. The University is currently home to more than 38,000 students and 15,000 faculty and staff.
The Division of Preventive Medicine is home to two Royal College accredited residency training programs, one in Public Health and Preventive Medicine and another in Occupational Medicine.
Faculty members in the Division of Preventive Medicine are also engaged in undergraduate medical education, continuing professional development in Occupational Medicine as well as in a range of research projects ranging from evidence-
based medicine to population health to bench research. Divisional faculty members provide clinical service in Public Health and Occupational Medicine.
The successful candidate must be an MD (or equivalent) with certification in Occupational Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) and will be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
Individuals with a focus on education and training at the undergraduate medical and resident level, and experience in the administration of residency and other postgraduate medical training programs are encouraged to apply.
Key accountabilities of the Occupational Physician will include, but will not be limited to, leadership and administration of educational programs in Occupational Medicine, engagement in research, and provision of clinical service in Occupational Medicine.
The successful candidate will be offered a contingent tenured or tenure-track appointment in the Department of Medicine, which is in accordance with the University of Alberta Faculty Agreement, and offers a comprehensive benefits package.
Remuneration for this position is based on the Academic Alternative Relationship Plan (A-ARP), which offer a very competitive remuneration package with excellent benefits.
