The Delivery Director, New Construction, is responsible for oversight and direction of a new construction vessel programs under contract at VSY designed and constructed as part of the Federal Fleet Renewal Program (FFRP).
The position is responsible for coordinating Seaspan Shipyards and internal resources in support of meeting specific program cost, schedule, quality, and safety goals.
The Delivery Director, New Construction is responsible for program delivery performance from contract ward through to contract completion and in accordance with the assigned major work area packages.
The Delivery Director, reports to the Vice President Program Delivery. The Delivery Director is supported by a staff of Deputy Delivery Managers and analysts as dictated by program size and complexity.
Duties and Accountabilities
Oversees and directs assigned new construction program activities including, but not limited to, planning, design, procurement, production, testing, and warranty.
Accountable for program profit and loss performance.
Coordinates Seaspan Shipyards and subcontractor resources in support of meeting program cost, schedule, quality, and safety goals.
Establishes and communicates program goals across the organization and to and subcontractors.
Develops and implements a comprehensive set of program metrics to measure departmental program performance.
Reports departmental program performance to senior management, identifies variances from plan, and assists in developing and monitoring corrective actions.
Serves as Seaspan Shipyard’s representative for resolution of program issues with key suppliers and subcontractors.
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business.
Master’s degree highly desirable. 3 years program management experience either in the shipbuilding industry or as a Director overseeing complex industrial programs.
11 years professional experience in the shipbuilding, manufacturing, or construction industry, with demonstrated increased levels of responsibility.
