POSITION DESCRIPTION

WSP is currently seeking an Intermediate Environmental Scientist or Technologist to join our Environmental Team, located at our Kamloops, BC office.

Reporting to the Manager, this position will be responsible for conducting high volumes of fieldwork on a regular basis (Up to 75% fieldwork).

The ideal candidate will have hazardous materials and contaminated sites related experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute site-specific field data collection for the Environmental Group (contaminated sites division) across various regions of BC
  • Develop, guide and carry out on-site assessment and remediation activities
  • Maintain effective communication with team members, contractors and clients
  • Experience in field data collection and sampling of soil, water, vapor and hazardous materials
  • Carry out regular Business Development activities
  • Mentor other staff members
  • Proficient knowledge of Unified Soil Classification System
  • Advanced understanding of Provincial Contaminated Sites Regulations
  • Complete assignments within the constraints of the project work plans and budgets
  • Prepare accurate and detailed field notes
  • Tabulation of data including the preparation of borehole / test pit logs
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports
  • Other duties as assigned / required.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical College Certificate or University degree in environmental engineering / science or related discipline
  • 5-10 years of related experience in a consulting environment
  • Excellent written, technical reporting and communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and database entry
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships in a team environment
  • Valid and fully licensed driver
  • Use of personal vehicle for work will be required
  • Enjoy the outdoors, as fieldwork will likely comprise up to 75% of the work week
  • The desire to succeed in a dynamic and progressive global organization
