Position Description

SEI’s Institutional Unit is an innovative, aggressive, high growth business whose mission is to provide clients with comprehensive business solutions combining investment management and strategic advice.

SEI’s solution is an outsourcing program provided to institutional investors including : corporations, endowments / foundations, unions and government entities.

The group is action oriented and maintains a do-it-yourself mentality at all levels. This person will support SEI’s Canadian based Institutional clients.

Partner with Senior Professionals to develop both sales & client portfolio management agendas.

Support the day-to-day activities of the sales team on sales strategy, pre-call research and prep.

Research prospect and Board / Committee members in development of the strategy

Lead generation activities to improve sales opportunities (i.e. vulnerable competitors)

Collaborate with United States counterparts on consistent sales process and developing best practices.

Interact with RFP, IMU (US & Canada) and Compliance teams in ensuring material meet the regulatory requirements.

Work with Client Portfolio Management teams on supporting the client focused goals.

  • Collaborate with operations and 3rd party custodians for directing client activity, including rebalancing and manual trading;
  • implementing asset allocation and fee changes, monitoring custom client glide paths and coordinating corporate, plan and regulatory audits.

    Serve as an internal advocate with the Advice, Solutions, Legal, Billing, etc.

    Prepare contract amendments, restatements and custom Investment Policy Statements (IPS).

    Assist in preparing customized, legally compliant presentations for quarterly client meetings based on portfolio strategy, current market environment and client level strategy.

    Collaborate with operations and 3rd party custodians to direct client activity.

    Serve as day-to-day point of contact for all inbound and outbound client communications, including providing market and investment updates, new product roll-

    outs, and legislative / regulatory updates.

    Ensure client documentation and correspondence is current and maintained on appropriate systems.

    Position Requirements

    Qualified candidates for this position will have a minimum of 5-7 years of investment industry experience and be a Registered Representative with the OSC.

    Relationship, interpersonal and communication skills are an absolute priority for this position. Strong work ethic and self-

    motivation a key attribute of this person. Ability to multi-task and manage multiple agendas. Therefore, client relationship management and / or sales experience are highly desirable.

    Knowledge of investments and experience with institutional clients is a definite advantage. Accounting experience is also an advantage.

    Proficiency of the French language is a plus.

    The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, relationship-driven individual with :

    Exceptional communication skills and the ability to manage and coordinate multiple tasks to exceed client expectations.

    Written communication capabilities translating sophisticated investment concepts and performance attribution into specific client ready materials.

    Proven creativity and problem-solving ability

    Natural aptitude for recognizing and contributing to team, group and corporate goals in all situations and interactions.

    Detail orientation, strong technical acumen and good analytical skills

    Must have a strong work ethic with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

    Efficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word

    This position will be based in Toronto, Ontario.

    Limited travel will be required.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment

    While performing the duties of this job, the individual has to be able to sit or be stationary at a computer and use computers for extended periods of time and occasionally lift and / or move up to 20 pounds.

    The noise level in the environment is moderate and the individual must be able to communicate and exchange information with people in person and over the telephone and email.
