We are hiring Registered Practical Nurses to join the Homewood Health Centre in Guelph. You’re a great fit, if you thrive in a fast-

The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) at Homewood provides direct patient care through the therapeutic patient-nurse relationship to patients of all ages and from all backgrounds.

Nursing care is based upon sincere concern; is grounded in intelligence, education, knowledge, skill, and judgment; and its application is framed by the ethics of rights, care, and responsibility.

The RPN, as an interdisciplinary team member, practices in a setting in which resources are available to consult or intervene and provides less complex nursing services in more predictable situations.

The RPN at Homewood additionally specializes in the provision of holistic care which addresses the bio-psycho-social and spiritual needs of patients, families, and coworkers.

Practices within ethical, legal, professional parameters, standards of the College of Nurses and the hospital’s policies and procedures.

What we are looking for :

  • Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Practical Nursing Diploma is an asset
  • Demonstrated commitment to Homewood’s values (Service Excellence, Innovation, Collaboration, and Integrity).
  • Evidence of good work and attendance record.
  • Ability to effectively manage crisis situations and deal with acutely ill patients.
  • Current knowledge and experience of assessment and treatment of psychiatric disorders, including prevention of suicide and management of aggressive behaviour.
  • Proven ability and skill in working independently and with a team.
  • Commitment to working within Homewood’s Health and Safety Standards.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act (MHA).
  • Previous training in boundaries, suicide awareness, and medication administration is an asset.
  • Up to 6 months of experience in general nursing practice.
