Alberta Education's Teaching and Leadership Excellence sector provides strategic leadership and direction to all matters related to teaching excellence and leadership excellence by working collaboratively with stakeholders to provide Albertans assurance that our teachers, school leaders and system leaders are highly competent, inspired and strive to provide Alberta's students the best possible education.

The Office of the Registrar Branch is the professional regulatory body responsible for overseeing matters related to teacher discipline.

Overseeing matters related to teacher discipline (unprofessional conduct and professional incompetence) on behalf of the Minister, and all matters related to an applicant's suitability to hold a teaching certificate in Alberta.

The branch also oversees the Teacher Workforce Information System, which is Education's mandated responsibility to maintain a registry of all certificated teachers in Alberta.

Role Reporting to the Director / Associate Registrar, this position supports the Director / Associate Registrar in achieving the Branch mandate and goals through providing exceptional administrative leadership, information management and operational administrative support to Branch staff.

The successful candidate will have the ability and independence to assist in a number of different areas, including :

  • Manage and coordinate the schedule of the Registrar
  • Liaise with internal and external clients to coordinate the Action Request and Practice Review processes
  • Records and database administration
  • Contract management
  • Assist with FOIP requests
  • In this highly sensitive business area, the successful candidate must have a high degree of professionalism and initiative, and be sensitive to the political climate and confidential nature of the work.

  • A high school diploma and two years of related experience, or equivalency of one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.
  • Strong proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), is required.
  • Experience with GoA systems, such as ARTS, Contact management, IMAGIS, Microsoft Access and Adobe Acrobat Pro (redacting) is an asset.
  • Experience in managing information (records) and equipment assets is an asset.

    Salary $1,691.44 to $2,066.65 bi-weekly ($44,146.58 to $53,939.57 annually)
