RWDI is seeking a dynamic individual for the Guelph office to work as a Project Coordinator / Engineer within the Building Performance team.
This role includes but is not limited to :
Plan and coordinate all technical aspects of assigned projects
Solve challenging fluid flow design problems in consultation with engineering, architectural and industrial clients
Conduct fluid flow modelling, data collection, analysis, post-processing, interpretation, and documentation of engineering results
Consulting with engineers and architects to answer technical questions
Writing technical project reports that present methodology, results and recommendations
Providing advice on technical problems and follow the appropriate QA / QC procedures
Assist with the preparation of proposals, marketing materials and / or technical papers
Working under the general supervision of senior staff with considerable latitude for the exercise of independent judgement
We are accepting applications from candidates with the following qualifications :
A post-secondary graduate from a Science or Engineering program with a focus on fluid flow analysis including the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
5-10 years of experience in a commercial or academic setting
Clear knowledge of numerical methods, turbulence modeling and the application of CFD to problems involving complex physics
A strong understanding of the fundamental physics of fluid flow, heat and mass transfer
3 Dimensional geometries, grid generation and post processing skills
Experience interpreting and working with architectural, structural, or mechanical drawings.
Demonstrated initiative, independent problem solving methods / capabilities, exceptional coordination and communication skills
Experience creating simplified models in order to simulate complex systems
An ability to work in a fast-paced consulting environment with minimal supervision while multi-tasking to meet deadlines
Preference will be given to candidates with the following experiences :
Knowledge of curtain wall, fenestration, or HVAC systems in residential or commercial applications.
Grid generation using a standard tool (e.g. Star CCM+, OpenFOAM, etc.)
Calculating / estimating inputs for both fluid and heat transfer boundary conditions
Running simulations with buoyancy, species / scalars and particles using both steady and unsteady solvers (including large eddy simulations (LES))
Post processing results in a clear and concise manner
Experience with building thermal simulation software
A knowledge of HVAC systems and ASHRAE standards
Advanced level Microsoft Excel capabilities
Programming / scripting experience (Python, C++, C#, VBA)
Experience working within open source operating systems (Linux)
Competency accessing cloud / cluster computing array
