Reporting to the Community Grounds Superintendent, this position is responsible for directing and participating in the grounds maintenance of the community, including coordinating and scheduling team members, trades and contractors.

Responsibilities Include :

  • Provide direction, supervision and support to the community grounds team, monitoring standards of performance, upholding safety practices and ensuring work assignments are effectively distributed and completed.
  • Completes and supervises weed spraying programs using control products and maintain spray records in accordance with the Ministry of Environment guidelines.
  • Arrange pre-inspection of all machinery prior to use; report any issues immediately to mechanic or supervisor.
  • Oversees planting, pruning, weeding and care of plants, shrubs and trees within the community.
  • Schedule irrigation requirements for the community, including participating in repairs as required.
  • Perform daily / weekly inspections of the community, including monitoring of street lights, condition of road and driveways, and other common areas.
  • Schedule repairs as required.

  • Operate and direct snow removal equipment as required. Utilize resources in a safe and cost effective manner.
  • Complete performance evaluation for seasonal staff members.
  • Liaise with contractor and suppliers as required.
  • Experience & Qualifications :

  • Degree / diploma in turf management preferred, or 5 years related landscaping maintenance experience
  • Possession of valid Landscape Exterminator’s License, or willing to obtain
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop a strong and effective team.
  • Strong customer service orientation and skills.
  • Knowledge of equipment, tools and procedures of grounds construction and care. Good mechanical understanding and ability.
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license; able to drive pick-up truck, snow equipment, turf vehicles and mowers as well as operate small landscaping tools and equipment.
  • Ability to recognize and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and follow all safety precautions and emergency procedures.
  • Have dependable transportation and be able to report for flexible work schedules and on-call as required.
