Position : Social Worker II
Temporary Part-Time (0.50 FTE) Days
Contract End Date : March 31st, 2019
Program : Mood and Anxiety Program, Outpatients
Location : Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre
Liaise with appropriate residential settings and community resources, regarding client placement.
Advocate on behalf of clients and families for appropriate services and resources.
Assessment, treatment, and support to families and clients within an interdisciplinary team (individual and group therapy).
Complete risk assessment, crisis intervention plans, and clinical needs assessment.
Communication of information related to clinical need, risk assessment and clinical strategies with the clinical team.
Engage client, family, and significant others in the clinical interventions and risk reduction strategies with the clinical team.
Document on patient’s clinical record according to hospital, college, and legislative standards.
Maintain work load measurement and data collection (e.g. RAI) as required.
Participate and lead in research and program evaluation.
Participate in supervision, teaching and education of Social Work students, and support students from health related disciplines.
Participation in hospital Social Work and quality improvement requirements.
Attend Social Work meetings.
Contribute to Clinical peer consultation groups.
Keep current of hospital policies and procedures and applicable legislation.
Keep up to date regarding professional standards by reviewing current literature, attending educational events, networking with colleagues, etc.
Participate in Program and discipline specific committees and task groups.
Provide educational presentations to community groups.
Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient / client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal.
Ensure a work environment that is conducive to The Royal’s Harassment-Free Workplace Policy.
Master’s degree in Social Work.
Three years clinical Social Work experience in a mental health setting.
Registration in Ontario College of Social Work and Social Service Workers and in good standing.
Knowledge of mental health best practices, community services, and crises response.
Knowledge of patient and family centred care.
Discharge planning experience and knowledge of community resources is essential.
Experience in individual, couple, family and group therapy.
Knowledge of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Knowledge of Recovery.
Knowledge of conflict resolution.
Experience with recovery based programs for the seriously mentally ill is an asset.
Experience working with Concurrent Disorders population is an asset.
Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
Willingness to work variable hours, evenings and weekends.
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is preferred.
English level A- is mandatory in oral comprehension, expression, reading, and writing. Bilingual (French / English) is considered an asset.
Salary : $37.97 to $48.38 hourly
