Your Opportunity :

As a Program Consultant I on the Provincial Addiction Prevention team (Addiction and Mental Health), you will have unique, dynamic roles and projects.

You will support multiple settings including at community, provincial and national levels and includes a broad range of internal and external collaborative relationships.

You will be responsible for supporting (i.e. training and advising) several community coalitions to identify, develop and implement projects to prevent and reduce the harm associated with substance abuse.

You will also develop specific material related to public health concerns and contribute to AHS responses to these issues.

Program Consultants on this team are critical content specialists in addiction and mental health, an area of health services that exists with limited capacity.

You will have a strong understanding of how problems related to substance abuse develop, the important link with mental health, and population and public health frameworks.

Planning and delivering provincial networking conferences and / or workshops developing resources and implementing training are part of the portfolio of the Addiction Prevention team.

You will be working under the direction of the Manager and Team Lead of Provincial Addiction Prevention. The successful candidate will be responsible for advancing and coordinating the development and implementation of efforts that contribute to preventing and reducing the harms associated with substance use across populations.

You will have experience in complex project management, health promotion and prevention practice. You will bring this knowledge and expertise to both the projects the Provincial Addiction Prevention team leads and those that we support.

You will facilitate community and staff engagement and build community and staff capacity around population health promotion and substance abuse prevention.

  • Required Qualifications :

    Completion of bachelor's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable college.

    Minimum two years' experience in the areas of Addiction and Mental Health. Experience and knowledge of strategies and best practice critical to successful substance abuse prevention.

    Facilitation and / or coordination experience in project planning, execution, reporting, monitoring, and evaluation.

    Additional Required Qualifications :

    A minimum of 3 years’ experience in complex project management and health or related service setting with a focus on addiction and / or mental health.

    Advanced written and verbal communication skills for a broad range of audiences.Practical experience developing and facilitating working committees, consultations and training opportunities for and with cross jurisdictional stakeholders.

    Practical experience contributing to consensus building, facilitating change and engaging partners in health promotion and prevention activity.

    Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize complex work, balance priorities and meet timelines.Practical experience and knowledge of strategies and best practice critical to successful substance abuse prevention.

    Knowledge of population and public health, social determinants of health, health equity and healthy public policy.Facilitation and / or coordination experience in project planning, execution, reporting, monitoring and evaluation.

    Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team.

    Preferred Qualifications :

    Masters level degree in public health, population health, health promotion, health administration or other related field.
