The Role :

  • Organize initiatives to ensure that all EHS benchmarks and objectives are met.
  • Encourages and engages participants in an accident-free environment throughout the organization
  • Oversee the successful completion of audits of all office, warehouse and worksite locations to ensure that all potential hazards are identified and corrective measures are put in place.
  • Through regular audits, certify that contractors and subcontractors are implementing all required Environmental and Health and Safety procedures
  • Assist and deploy EHS training and orientation when and where required
  • Continuously improve Safety Procedures through a thorough analysis of current and past safety data.
  • Keep up to date on all provincial and federal legislation and update EHS policies and procedures as needed
  • Actively contribute to various teams both corporate and within the district to review, updated and develop safety policies and procedures
  • Create and ensure the appropriate use of handling procedures for both hazardous and non-hazardous materials such as handling, processing, and disposal
  • Oversee programs for office environments and refrigerant management
  • Manage the administrative functions and technicalities of worker’s compensation program as well as the return to work programs.
  • Manage the completion and presentation of various EHS regulatory reports
  • Audit and report on risk assessments and provide control procedures for any identified areas of concern
  • Oversee the process for safety data sheets and new chemical request
  • Manage the training for all emergency response teams
  • Act as the primary contact for all EHS emergencies and concerns.
  • The Ideal Candidate :

  • Post-Secondary education in a field related to Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Sciences or similar. Combination of training and work experience will also be considered.
  • 5 years or more experience in a similar role related to practical safety
  • Must be Bilingual with excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Ability to lead and engage members of various teams and at all levels
  • Expert with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Familiarity with federal and provincial health and safety legislature as well as Worker’s Compensation.
  • Must have proven organizational skills and with the ability to prioritize and manage time accordingly
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work in a team
  • Must have the flexibility to travel within Canada and the United States
