The Process Engineer (Plastics) is responsible for the design, integration and improvement ofmanufacturing systems and related processes for plastic extruded products.
Thescope of this role will involve the following :
Design, integrate and improve plastic extrusion manufacturing process and systems.
Provide leadership to the organization in the development of advanced technical product or process.
Communicate issues and coordinate resolutions with team members.
Act as a liaison with Shift Supervisor, Engineering and Maintenance on issues related to all plastic extrusion lines and auxiliary equipment.
Maintain the production lines at their peak efficiency through rapport with the equipment and SUT team.
Direct and review with Setup Technicians on production costs indicators : Product Weights, Line Speeds, and Scrap to achieve measured goals.
Document technical protocols and processes and modify whenever necessary.
Responsible for continuously training SUT’s as needed.
Create and maintain training materials to ensure proper training of our production workers.
Provide proper training, both hands-on and written to ensure timely training of our production workers.
Troubleshoot component levels for mechanical and electrical equipment.
Implement sophisticated electronic automation equipment from prints or schematics.
Design tooling, pneumatics, electronic circuit boards, mechanics and computer control systems.
Ensure that tooling and set ups for production lines are up to date and maintained.
Coordinate with production planning on product changeovers to meet customer commitment dates.
Review production schedule for maximum efficiency.
Participate in meetings and provide the necessary technical expertise to support the department.
Assist in the statistical analysis that is vital for research and development of projects.
Ensure all equipment used in the plastics extrusion process is up to safety, quality and production standards.
Submit service request to ensure equipment reliability, process improvement and workflow efficiency.
Ideal Requirements :
BSc. Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) and / or equivalent work experience in the plastics manufacturing industry.
Sound technical knowledge of of the plastic industry (plastic extrusion, plastic injection moulding processes, etc.) and material combines with good problem solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, the ability to influence others, and solicit the cooperation of subordinate staff.
Ability to apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques.
