Responsibilities / Job Description :

The System Planning Engineer position is responsible for hydraulic design and analysis of pipeline facilities to support incremental and ongoing business and operations for the company.

Specifically, this role will :

  • Facilitate and develop facilities plans for Union’s Transmission systems (Dawn - Parkway, Panhandle, and Sarnia Industrial).
  • This includes developing base system demands and incorporating forecast demands. Plans must maintain the integrity of the system and provide the maximum flexibility possible.

  • Recommend optimum facilities to meet growth. Support detailed design from the conceptual stage through to construction and commissioning.
  • Effectively respond to clients including Business Development, Engineering and Construction, Storage Planning and others regarding system expansion projects.
  • Work with Capacity Management, Gas Control, STO and other clients to provide system operational support on a timely basis.
  • Keep current on issues which will impact Union’s transmission systems.
  • Prepare and provide support for filings before the regulator (facilities applications, rate case, OEB / NEB, other).
  • Develop improved processes and analysis techniques to optimize facilities.
  • Development opportunity and provides the ability to be part of a multi-disciplinary project team on large system expansion and maintenance projects.
  • Basic / Minimum Qualifications :

  • University Degree in Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario (PEO), or eligible to become member.
  • Minimum 2 years engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Good knowledge of computer software; specifically Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word).
  • Desired Qualifications :

  • Previous experience using pipeline simulation software, particularly SynerGEE, is considered an asset.
  • Pipeline design, construction or operations experience.
