INVISTA Canada's Kingston Nylon manufacturing site located in Kingston, Ontario has an immediate opening for a Process Control Leader .

This role will strategically lead an existing Process Controls Team within the Kingston Technical Organization and provide strategic direction to the Site with respect to our Control Systems.

Kingston Site has a large and complex mixture of aging legacy and new control systems including PLCs, DCS, PCN, and other MES systems.

Position Responsibilities : As the Leader of the Site Controls Team, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with an aim at providing reliable and flexible DCS and PLCs for the ever-

changing business environment. You will :

  • Develop a point of view of the current controls system opportunities to enable the development of a long-term Site Controls Vision.
  • Proactively identify gaps and opportunities for improvement; review best practices; evaluate and implement new technologies consistent with an overall Site Controls Vision.
  • Lead integrated teams to develop measures to monitor and optimize DCS / PLC system performance.
  • Assist / Lead major DCS / PLC upgrade projects; arrange for the development and testing of new control systems.
  • Audit control and information systems for compliance with corporate guidelines.
  • Develop staffing and training plans to support site systems.
  • Develop training plans and train Maintenance / Operations resources on effective use of process control systems.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to management in process control performance, recommendations, and plans.
  • Review MOCs for compliance with controls system work practices compliance.

    Above all you must ensure that all your activities are carried out with integrity and in a safe and efficient manner. Skill Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering, or Instrumentation Diploma with process controls specialization supplemented by related work experience.
  • At least ten (10) years of experience in a similar role (distributed control system, PLC, instrumentation, safety instrument system).
  • Supervisory experience would be an asset.
  • Experience in business case development and working in a large project process environment is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience in process control optimization and implementation is considered a strong asset.
  • Proficient in distributed control system configuration and control loop tuning.
  • Contribute positively in a team oriented environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
