This key role within the Business Development team offers high energy, creative managers the opportunity to engage in the tactical execution of a comprehensive business growth plan for one of the world’s leading Operations and Maintenance companies.
Reporting to the Director of Proposals, the Proposal Specialist will be responsible for leading our bid process from project initiation to contract award for our operations and maintenance teams, both in Canada and internationally for a range of opportunities, including Public Private Partnerships.
Accountable for the facilitation of bid process
Leading the opportunity analysis discussions and provides input to understand opportunity, risk and cost analysis to support the decision process
Contributing to building the optimal plan / winning strategy / winning price documenting key themes and approaches
Managing communications, internal and with the client, scheduling review meetings, and ensuring the full team is following the process
Managing bid logistics, developing the schedule for the team and setting responsibilities / expectations for the proposal who does what and when
Review of all bid materials, with a great attention to detail
Writing and creating compelling RFx documents and sales material
Managing the overall proposal development process including developing business solutions and content with internal operational leads, subject matter experts, writers and financial personnel
Designing and production of proposals with internal or external resources
Ensuring the maintenance and periodic updates of sales databases to ensure a high quality of information and improve response time for Business Development opportunities and Proposal Response.
Minimum of 5 year experience in bid or proposal development is required
University degree in Engineering, Project Management, Writing / Communications, or Business Administration is preferred
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) is required; prior experience in business or sales writing is an asset
Ability to influence without authority and work well with a variety of team structures and individuals
Ability to multi-task, being flexible and manage multiple projects simultaneously with numerous deadlines
Highly organized and motivated
Client focused; adopting client perspective in all interactions
Basic knowledge of operations and maintenance services and public private partnership projects is an asset
Proven expertise in the following software Microsoft Office : Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint (intermediate level);
proficiency in Microsoft Projects is required
Working knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, programming languages an asset
Skilled at researching information using internet and other research tools
French fluency is considered an asset but not essential
