Act as financial partner and trusted advisor for the assigned IT portfolio, by maintaining a strong understanding of its activities and key performance indicators, and by influencing IT management and portfolio stakeholders to ensure decisions are aligned with corporate objectives
Collaborate with other departments (Accounting, Financial Planning, Taxation, Supply Management) for all queries related to the assigned portfolio
Manage all financial aspects of assigned portfolio, including planning, budgeting, analysis and controlling
Proactively monitor and control actual financial results and portfolio activities to identify any corrective measures required to achieve financial targets
Ensure compliance to policies, regulations and Accounting standards (US GAAP) by implementing and enforcing effective processes and controls
Analysis and Support
Perform annual budget, monthly actuals and year-end outlooks (YEOs), financial reporting and analysis, and deliver actionable insights to portfolio stakeholders
Provide guidance and support to the assigned IT portfolio on any queries related to financial matters, including accounting treatment, policies, budgets and financial performance
Identify opportunities for optimization or cost savings and ensure that the assigned IT portfolio delivers the most value for CN
Business Case Management and Support
Lead the development, review and submission of all AFEs (Approvals For Expenditure) within the assigned IT portfolio
Act as liaison with Financial Planning and within IT for any queries related to business cases under your responsibility
Process Improvement and special projects
Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities
Assist with additional analysis and support of special projects, as required
3+ years experience as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)
Strong financial management and accounting skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to manage relationships at various levels within the organization
Ability to communicate technical and financial terms into business language and vice-versa
Ability to work under pressure
Superior problem solving, analytical and investigative skills
Ability to analyze, manipulate and extract relevant information from large data sets
Thorough, conscientious, results-oriented and autonomous
Bilingualism in both English and French (spoken and written)
Previous exposure to and / or interest in the IT industry and related domains (telecommunications, infrastructure, security, data center operations, etc.)
Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of SAP (Finance and Controlling modules) and SAP Business Warehouse
Knowledge of railroad operations and equipment
