Bus 720A - Managing and Creating an Innovative Culture in the Public Sector
offered every second Saturday from August 27 to October 8, 2016)
The opportunities and constraints in the public sector differ in many ways from those of the private sector. This course focuses on how to achieve innovation and progressive management with an explicit understanding of the realities of the public sector.
Topics may include working with a unionized workforce, performance management, inter-departmental coordination, the government budgeting process, risk management, public-
sector values, ethics, open government, communications, and marketing. The course also includes project management in the public sector context.
Because this is an Executive MBA course, we seek applicants with a strong combination of qualifications and experience. Minimum educational credentials include a Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
In addition, applicants should have advanced expertise in the course topic and extensive management experience in public sector positions at a senior level.
Knowledge and familiarity with Evidence-based Management principles is an asset. Priority will be given to individuals who are on the sessional roster and have the appropriate qualifications.
Successful applicants will have a minimum of a master's level degree or equivalent with a combination of qualifications and experience.
Also note, priority will be given to qualified individuals on the sessional roster of the academic unit.
