What is the opportunity?

This is a Senior Scrum Master / Project Manager position at Royal Bank within the digital space of the Wealth Management technology and solutions team.

You will be involved in the creation of new products for the client and advisor channels for Wealth Management.

The Sr. Scrum Master enables an RBC scrum team to run a medium-to-complex Agile development process that aligns with business and technical needs.

The Scrum Master is a key role within an Agile delivery team that delivers a product that generates business benefits for one or more RBC Wealth Management lines of business.

What will you do?

  • Facilitate collective decision-making, goal setting and conflict resolution within the team and improve team performance by promoting joint accountability for results and solving productivity issues.
  • Remove impediments to delivery success through the proactive management of external dependencies, medium-to-high complexity team problem-
  • solving and the development of new solutions or approaches to ongoing challenges; have the authority to execute against new approaches and escalate issues through business and / or IT channels where necessary.

  • Create and maintain the appropriate vehicles for open communication within the Scrum team (e.g. tracker boards) to foster a trusting and safe team environment.
  • Communicate cross-functionally, ensuring transparency of progress and outcomes; report team progress and accomplishments up and across;
  • facilitate status updates, product demos and retrospectives.

  • Provide proactive coaching (with the assistance of an Agile Coach) to the team and recommend continuous improvement of processes to optimize team productivity.
  • Forecast and maintain project budgets to ensure that resources allocated are recovered and play an important role in the long-
  • term evolution of Agile practices at RBC.

  • Status reporting to senior executives, which includes creating presentation decks and updating financial status on the health of the project
  • Coordination of deliverables in the source system teams that are required for integration with the digital team
  • What do you need to succeed?

    Must-have :

  • 2+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, where Scrum principles, practices, theory were diligently applied and strong technical background
  • 5+ years of experience in Project Management managing Agile projects
  • 4+ years of experience working on medium- to high-complexity initiatives
  • Experience with project / program delivery in an Agile environment (medium- to large-scale initiatives), using influence to facilitate outcomes;
  • practical experience with any of the key disciplines required in Agile delivery (e.g. software development, business system analysis)

  • Passion for delivery and track record of successful delivery; attitude for success; attention to detail; curiosity and passion for innovation
  • Ability to build trust, communicate status and set a course for success with senior executives and inspire greatness from members of project teams in a matrix environment;
  • outstanding verbal and written communication skills

  • PMP certified
  • PMP certified
  • Certified Scrum Master / Agile practitioner
  • RBC Agile Management Framework and SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) experience
  • Experience managing digital projects and delivering projects in large corporate environments
  • Experience in financial services, technology, wealth management or brokerage
