Responsibilities

This position at our Bethune mine location is responsible to review Purchase Requisitions, obtain quotes, prepare bid comparisons and issue purchase orders.

You will maintain material master data through SAP to control inventory and reorder efficiently and through manual processing, as well as automatic processing.

The successful candidate will :

  • Procure goods and services using SAP Materials Management (MM) and update system including outline agreements, info records and source lists.
  • Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures
  • Work with Functional departments and Others to forecast demand, and determine purchasing needs of the organization
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery and payment terms for all purchase requirements
  • Investigate and develop supply sources
  • Provide Purchasing advise to senior managers, functional department heads, KSPC personnel and peers
  • Complete sourcing strategies fit for purpose, including but not limited to; market analysis, spend analysis, consumption analysis, tender process, evaluation, negotiation and selection
  • Develop strategic processes to bundle purchasing needs to support standardizing activities
  • Manage the transparent documentation of all Procurement activities
  • Manage requirements triggered through Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
  • Review purchase requisitions, obtain quotes and prepare bid comparisons
  • Purchase and schedule materials, raw materials, spares and operating supplies
  • Document corrective action for suppliers as required and follow up on improvements in supplier performance
  • Manage risks and opportunities and work through escalated issues with suppliers as necessary
  • Provide monthly report on months major activities
  • Work with Materials Management in support of material receiving issues
  • Work with Finance / Accounting resolve blocked invoices and Vendor invoice payment issues
  • Complete ad-hoc projects

    Qualifying requirements for this role :

  • Must have Diploma or a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Purchasing.
  • 5+ years’ of experience in procurement in purchasing functions for multiple projects
  • Supply Chain Certification., SCM Diploma, SCMP Designation considered an asset
  • SAP (Materials Management) knowledge considered an asset
  • Experience with various types of contracts including supplier agreements, cost plus agreements, EPCM models, etc.
  • Knowledge of legislation and regulatory environment as it relates to purchasing and supply chain management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Uses effective negotiation skills.
  • Uses technical skill and sound judgment in decision making process.
  • Must be authorized to legally work in Canada.
  • Successful candidates must be eligible to travel outside of Canada as travel may be required
  • Successful candidates may be entitled to relocation assistance.
