Title : Sr. Associate, Congress & Events (Country Meeting Lead)

Reports to : Finance Director

Location : Mississauga Head Office

The Country Meeting Lead’s primary responsibility is to provide Governance over the processes and ensure high quality services are being delivered to Amgen Canada.

This role also allows for Cost (Budget) Management; Data / Reporting; Continuous Improvement; Business Insights / Intelligence.

The Country Meeting Lead will be responsible to drive cost reductions at individual Meeting level, while also developing a continuous improvement roadmap with annual goals.

IMPLEMENTATION PHASE :

  • Assist with Global Meeting Management (GMM) & Agency for implementation
  • Canada Affiliate Lead for Meeting related communications
  • Work with agency & GMM to develop country-based processes
  • Assists with local training and change management with direction from GMM Regional Lead
  • MEETING PLANNING :

  • Responsible for local training and change management with direction from GMM Regional Lead
  • Provide recommendation to Meeting Organizer (RAE) for approval / final decision if needed
  • Meeting Planner for large internal meetings (Semester Meetings) : Provide recommendation to RAE for approval / final decisionManages day to day operations
  • Support Compliance system implementation with Compliance / GMM
  • Quarterly Financial reporting for meetings as requested by Finance
  • ONGOING GMM Responsibilities :

  • Represent country in GMM Monthly meetings
  • Establish regular cadence with GMM to monitor, assess and improve local agency performance
  • Working with affiliate, GMM and agency to identify inefficiencies and opportunities to improve service delivery and offerings
  • Distribute Lanyon QC reports to agency
  • Oversee Meetings and General point of contact (POC) for logistics agency (escalation process)
  • Auditing of sample of events
  • Travel approximately 5%
  • Outputs :

  • Independently determines approach to managing daily operations
  • Interprets and executes policies that directly affect work activities
  • Supplier Relationship Management
  • Authority :

  • Ongoing engagement with Stakeholders
  • Quarterly strategic reviews for development of annual business plans
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Successful track record in planning large pharmaceutical meetings, supplier management, relationship-building, negotiation and problem solving
  • Project management experience
  • 5+ years pharmaceutical meeting planning experience
  • Use of Cvent / Lanyon technology
  • Project Management certification preferred (PMI, etc.)
  • Demonstrated Financial Acumen
  • Demonstrated Supplier Management skills
  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) / Certified Meeting Manager (CMM) preferred
