Duties

Some of the key duties include :

  • Analyzes, adapts and / or maintains administrative systems, methods and procedures. Assesses effectiveness of services provided;
  • and implements proposed changes. (AS-02)

  • Monitors emerging issues affecting the day to day operations of the organization, determines the urgency, priority and relevance of documents, information and communications and identifies problems or concerns. (AS-02)
  • Sets the operational framework of the automated issues tracking system, including the development of required processes and mechanisms, so as to ensure effective control of issues requiring immediate attention and monitor the development of effective and timely responses at all stages of preparation from inception to closure. (AS-03)
  • Interacts with program managers and subject matter specialists involved in the development of adequate responses to current issues, provides advice and assistance, as required, and ensures appropriate conditions are met as far as accuracy, timeliness and completeness. (AS-03)

    The Pay Administration Branch (PAB) of PSPC is responsible for managing the public service compensation functions of the Government of Canada.

    Intent of the process

    The intent of this appointment process is to staff various positions at various levels within the Pay Administration Branch of PSPC.

    Pools of partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions with various linguistic profiles and various security requirements within Public Services and Procurement Canada.

  • EX1 - Experience in providing recommendations to managers on assigned files;
  • EX2 - Experience in preparing and updating briefing materials;
  • EX3 - Experience in researching, collecting and analyzing information from various sources for quality assurance;
  • EX4 - Experience in implementing office protocols and following departmental policies and procedures.

  • AEX1- Experience as a Pay and Integrity Officer in a Public Works and Government Services Canada Regional Pay Office;
  • AEX2- Experience as a Unit Security Officer;
  • AEX3- Experience coordinating briefing materials and official correspondence;
  • AEX4- Experience dealing with ATIP requests;
  • AEX5- Experience dealing with ministerial correspondence;
  • AEX6- Experience in delivering client services;
  • AEX7- Experience in information management on a directorate level;
  • AEX8- Experience in providing human resources support services;
  • AEX9- Experience in the use of electronic pay systems and related tools used in the community;
  • AEX10- Experience to provide advice regarding compensation and benefits services within the Federal Public Service;
  • AEX11- Experience working with automated financial management systems, as SIGMA.

    FOR AS-03 POSITIONS :

  • AEX12- Experience assisting with the implementation of new software applications;
  • AEX13- Experience in analysis of Pay system changes requests;
  • AEX14- Experience in assisting users with application problems or errors;
  • AEX15- Experience in drafting various correspondences such as letters, communiqués, summary reports, procedures, etc;
  • AEX16- Experience in finance or budget tracking and reconciliation;
  • AEX17- Experience in Information Management or Records Management;
  • AEX18- Experience in liaising with an executive office (Director level and above);
  • AEX19- Experience in one of the following disciplines : a) Experience in the interpretation of compensation policies and regulations b) Experience in the development or delivery of training to adults;
  • AEX20- Experience in pay or pension administration in the federal public service;
  • AEX21- Experience in performing analysis of system problems and preparing reports related to these problems;
  • AEX22- Experience in providing governance support to committees, including the coordination of meetings and special events, the preparation of meeting documents, the development of agendas and the production of minutes / records of decision;
  • AEX23- Experience in research and analysis on the management and coordination of human resources strategic planning and requests for information and appropriately routing requests for response in a timely manner;
  • AEX24- Experience in the provision of compensation services within the Federal Public Service;
  • AEX25- Experience in the use of computer systems used in the Compensation and Benefits area;
  • AEX26- Experience in the use of the financial system SIGMA (SAP) and the Material Management Module (MM);
  • AEX27- Experience in verification and quality assurance;
  • AEX28- Experience preparing reports related to one or more of the following business activities business planning, the Management Accountability Framework, Plans and Priorities or other governance processes;
  • AEX29- Experience providing secretariat support to interdepartmental meetings, conferences or management committees;
  • OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS : ALL LEVELS

    Be willing and able to work overtime on short notice

    Conditions of employment

    Reliability Status security clearance - Various security clearance levels : Reliability Status or Secret.

    Note : Those selected must meet and maintain the required security clearance throughout their employment.
