    Job Summary

    As a senior accountant of the corporate finance department, this position acts as a key support mechanism to the Manager, Corporate Finance through the facilitation of business processes providing the foundation for effective financial stewardship.

    The position is responsible for developing the data and reporting necessary to preserve the integrity of the monthly financial reporting package.

    Ensures accurate financial reporting and analysis in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

    Job Responsibilities

  • Supports the safeguarding of the assets of the organization by providing the proper reporting mechanisms across the Apotex group of companies in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Responsible for the generation of legal and management financial statements and reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Conducts reviews with manager providing the appropriate analysis on month end results to support effective discussions with senior management.

  • Works closely with the Manager, Corporate Finance to ensure the quality and accuracy of data and discipline around accruals process.
  • Performs complex financial and consolidation transactions across all entities.
  • Performs the verification required to ensure that FI / CO and PCA remain in balance.
  • Responsible for generating and co-ordinating the month end and year end scheduling in relation to the production of financial statements.
  • Develops budget process and timeframes for presentation to the executive.

  • Responsible for the reconciliation process ensuring completeness and thorough investigation of outstanding items.
  • Supports preparation of annual tax return and analysis for tax effectiveness as required.
  • Acts as a key contact for budget support and analysis. Participation in budgeting and forecasting processes ensuring that budget data is properly set up in the financial reporting system for accurate reporting.
  • Supports the interim and year-end audits by collecting and validating audit schedules.
  • Responsible for supporting and facilitating business process re-engineering initiatives.
  • Undertakes Statistics Canada Reporting as required.
  • Coach and lead other members of the team with respect to advancing their financial knowledge.

  • Job Requirements

  • Education Demonstrated expertise in finance and accounting gain through a university degree and a recognized accounting designation (CPA).
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Good knowledge of financial and accounting practices, standards and regulatory guidelines Good organization, communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions. Proactive mindset. Upgrading and identifying opportunities for improvement Excellent working knowledge of SAP.

  • Experience 3 years of financial experience (post designation) in a complex environment. Exposure to consolidations is an asset.
