This position will be responsible for the shift operation of the 101,400 lbs / hour heating plant and distribution system to ensure that the plant is operated safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all environmental rules and regulations.
This position is considered emergency personnel, which requires the selected candidate to report to work or be called in due to inclement weather, in the case of an emergency, or staff shortage, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES : â?¢Perform administrative functions to maintain the Heating Plant log and ensure that all shift readings are taken to include water, water treatment, and fuel â?
¢Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the steam plant and the actions of the shift personnel â?¢Maintain Heating Plant monthly statistics log â?
¢Identify deficiencies in Power Plant â?¢Develop / read graphs and interpret data collected â?¢Monitor plant controls â?¢Initiate work orders â?
¢Complete all maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair work orders within 24 hours â?¢Assist with maintenance and repairs of outages â?
¢Assist with inventory control â?¢Responsible for the condition of the water chemistry of the plant â?¢Perform routine equipment operating tasks â?
¢Receive deliveries of oil and sawdust fuel â?¢Responsible for sampling and testing of sawdust â?¢Operate sawdust handling equipment and keep fuel delivery station ready to receive the next load â?
¢Supervise others Pay Band 3. Commonwealth of Virginia benefits accompany this position. A successful criminal background check is required.
