Position Overview :

Reporting to the Development and Operations Management team, the candidate selected for the position of Senior Systems and Network Administrator will take part in upgrading and maintaining networks and infrastructure for TELUS Health solutions, in our Pharmacy division.

The Pharmacy operations team is made up of independent people working in support of a data centre, customers, and a development team.

You use structured work methods. The company has initiated a transformation toward cloud computing.

Responsibilities :

Responsible and proactive approach to the resolution of client network problems

Installation and maintenance of network equipment (routers, switches, WiFi, VPN)

  • Monitoring and troubleshooting of various infrastructures
  • Deployment and maintenance of more than a thousand virtual private networks

    Installation, support and configuration of an internal ecosystem of over 500 virtual machines (VMs)

    Providing reliable management and documentation of the network architecture for a production data centre

    Collaboration with architects, database administrators and systems administrators on multiple technology upgrade projects

    Providing management teams with clear progress updates on various deliverables

  • Capacity planning and management
  • Contribute to shared projects with our customers and partners
  • Availability for 24 / 7 rotation to support the data centre and external networks

    Openness to learning different tasks relating to an operations (Ops) team

    Required Knowledge :

    Extensive experience with Cisco ASA and ASR products, switches, VPNs, IPSec

    Extensive experience with telecommunications (LAN, WAN and TCP / IP)

    Excellent knowledge of systems administration and the following technologies : Windows Server, VMware, SAN, NAS, SSL certificates, Active Directory, IPSentry, VPN, BackupExe

    Good project management skills

  • Good knowledge of Visio
  • Basic knowledge of database administration (an asset)
  • UNIX knowledge (an asset)
  • Required Skills & Abilities :

  • Solid analytic abilities in the resolution of critical problems
  • Excellent communication skills in French and English (spoken and written)

  • Very strong ability to prioritize different tasks and projects
  • Solid understanding of virtualization and the concept of cloud computing

  • Ability to work in an environment with changing priorities
  • Team player attitude and capacity to collaborate and communicate effectively

  • Creative and innovative attitude
  • Dynamic, motivating outlook and a good sense of humour
  • Required Professional Designation / Certification :

    University or college degree in engineering, telecommunications or IT

  • Cisco CCNA certification (an asset)
  • VMware certification (an asset), MCSE certification (an asset)
  • Required Experience :

    10 years of experience in telecommunications, networking, systems administration
